DonateChess.com is our way here at Chess Gorilla LLC. to sell equipment and give back to our community. Our goal is for each item sold, we will donate one to a chess program in need. There are TONS of chess programs across our great country where our donation could do some good.

We are starting with the Chess Gorilla Checkbook Magnetic Chess Set. The way we are doing this is we are partnering with State Organizations, Teaching Organizations, Streamers, and anyone else we can find to reach these programs. When we reach 20 sets sold, we will randomly pick one group in need to send 20 of these sets.

When you buy a set from us, we ask for you to recommend a place to donate these sets. We will need the name of the organization or school, the point of contact, and their contact information. These names will be put on our excel spreadsheet and for every 20 sets sold we will send out a package to one of them.

Keep on checking the site, we will be adding products about every 2 months. The end of February I will have chess themed speed cube. We will also be adding Hardcover scorebooks in the VERY near future.



This website was started out by Shelby Lohrman. Right now I am the lead product developer for Chess Gorilla. Our goal here at Chess Gorilla is to provide high quality products to the chess community at a reasonable price. I have been serving the chess community for over 30 years. I started out working for the Rochester Chess Center then moved on to American Chess Equipment.

As life went on I got a phone call from my father asking me to come back and help run the RCC when mom got sick. Family is always first so I had to leave American Chess Equipment to help out the family. One of the hardest things I had to do in my life. In a turn of events Mom got better and Dad passed away in September. Decided that selling chess equipment was not the only thing...I want to give back to our great community and make my family proud.

In talking with one of the people that greatly influenced my life I came up with the idea of DonateChess.com. I can sell something that every chess player needs AND give back to this community that I love so much. Hope this website takes off and we can help bring chess to the masses.
